While I don't really think it matters too much, I didn't think it was all that appropriate to list the prices one way or the other.
The RR gave us a very favorable 2-day pre-season rate, which is why we decided to go for it and do the second day. I figure it would be unaffordable at today's prices(at least in my 1990's mind!!!

Earl, unlike old emails, that hard copy is still with us, bringing back some good and bad memories of those trips!!! I had not remembered those letters until I did some office cleaning looking for some other notes today!
Another interesting thing I found was a Norfolk and Western company magazine from 1982 with 611 on the cover and dedicated to the return of the J. The neat thing is the magazine was mailed to Joe DeCamp, the former Batavia Station Agent, who was at that time the last agent on the Cincinnati line, stationed at Sardinia. Now of course 611 will be rebuilt once more!!!
