We're going to get REAL brave and put Magma #7 on the point on the Texas State RR Easter Bunny Express Trains out of Rusk this weekend. The EBEX departs Rusk at 11am and 230pm for a short 15 mile round trip to the Bunny Patch just east of Maydelle. Upon unloading, the train continues west to Maydelle where we will turn the engine on the turntable for the trip back to Rusk. The first trip will also meet the regular Palestine passenger at Maydelle. Magma 7 has not run since about 2002 and has not worn her proper number and lettering since she left Superior, AZ in 1973.
No pics, she's not dressed yet.
As with anything like this, something can go wrong, and keeping her within a few miles of home will allow her to be rescued if necessary.
BTW to keep the traditionalists happy, there will be no diesel helpers...
double BTW: As far as the NNG(anymore) thing...... The original RR thru Rusk was a 3' gauge line later taken over by the Cotton Belt and SG'ed. The original construction of the TSR from the prison foundry to the interchange with the new RR was 3' to match the other RR
