None of the wire was salvaged. The pole line had the road and track crossings cut down, and the line was left to decay as it would, wire and poles in place. The insulators were stolen by collectors or shot for targets. Some of the pole hardware (bolts, braces, etc) would
likely be reuseable.
Lots of the wire probably could be snagged out of the brush and rolled up in the more open areas west of Antonito. it was all galvanized No.8 BWG iron, and in dry places would
probably be reuseable if it can be rolled up without kinking it.
It will be a big job though after 40+ years of it laying in the undergrowth in most places over Cumbres Pass.
Might be more cost-effective to just get new wire, if they still make it anywhere.
