In 1991 I was leaning against the reproduction CP depot talking with Betty Kimball as the
Eureka arrived to be unloaded. She told me that she and Ward had seen your engine at Hobart while they were on their honeymoon. She said that they were "smitten" with the engine; but at that time they had no spare money.
Later in 1938 they acquired the coach #5. Then their friend Gilbert Kneiss told them that they need a locomotive to go with the coach and he knew of one available. Ward told this story at one of the Preservation Symposiums once conducted annually at CSRM. He showed a slide of the canceled check for $400 he sent to Gill Kneiss to cover the purchase of #2 from the scrapper.
