320 was a few miles west of Gunnison 2/17/34 when rounding an "S" curve struck a rock that had rolled down the embankment, causing 320 to rollover to the left into the Gunnison River bed crushing the cab. Sam Cady was the engineer and Denver "Sap" Richardson the fireman - "Sap" was killed. This info I obtained from Mrs. Nellie Aspey - "Sap's" widow.
320 was fished out by Derrick OZ according to long time engineer Clarence Russell - the only time he ever saw it on the NG. The boiler and chassis were towed back to Gunnison and sat (there are photos) until 12/37 when the boiler on 319 went bad and was replaced by 320's.
