Guys,
Sorry to be a little slow about answering this post. Brett, we're not sure yet about the whistle. Some sort of air whistle showed up on ebay awhile back, but went for way to much $$. The original is said to have been steel instead of brass - most likely we'll manufacture one.
I'm sorry to report I was not at the work session when the engine was started. The engine work is not complete yet, no water pump or oil lines to the top end, so they only let it run about 30 seconds. Funny thing was, it started on the first try. They expected a backfire or two, maybe a chug at best, but Jim said he just hit the switch and there it went, startling the heck out of everyone.
Dan, we're planning to work thru the winter with a little time off for the holidays. I don't think Memorial Day is likely, a lot to do yet. We're hoping to have it at Sumpter around mid-summer for fire train duty, if needed.
best regards,
Jeff
