Was this an engine> balance thing for Alamosa?
YES THAT WOULD BE BALANCING POWER NEEDS FOR THAT PARTICULAR TIME
Regarding the Monarch

THE REMAINING EMPTIES, PROBABLY 26, WERE LEFT AT MAYSVILLE.
THE MINE PROVIDED THE RAILROAD A LISTING OF CARS NEEDED ON ANY PARTICULAR DAY.
ON THIS DATE APPEARS ONLY 16 LOADS WERE READY TO MOVE EAST. THAT MEANT THEY HAD EMPTIES ON HAND AND NEEDED ONLY THE ADDITIONAL EMPTIES TAKEN UP ON ONE TRIP. HELPER ENGINE WOULD HAVE RETURNED TO SALIDA FROM MAYSVILLE.
