The photo was made by a Gunnison photographer named Dean. It was made on the D&RG Marshall Pass line. It is not at Shirley on the East side of Marshall, although the tank is quite similar.
Looking at the low mountains in the background,it appears to be in the Tomichi Valley.Photo shows fresh track with hand hewn crossties, I believe that it might well have been taken c.1882 at Parlin. Years ago I bought a 5x7 contact print from the original glass negative at an old studio in Gunnison that is now closed for $6.
