Joe Kovalchick has said before the family will not run the EBT anymore, and probably not associate with it at all (Granted he did give the money to stablize the blacksmith shop, when no one else would). There is one thing that makes me wonder from the NRHS article... It said they would be looking for a scrap dealer or an auction...wouldn't it make more sense for the salvage company the family owns to scrap it than let someone else do it? I have no knowledge about how that works, but it makes you wonder. Unless someone else steps up (RTY, FEBT, Al Harper, etc), Salone is the best chance, because basically if no one buys it by December 2013, It's gone forever. Would I like to see someone with a better track record? Yes, Is there anyone else at this point? No. Does it seem like the family wants to get rid of it? Yes. Is the EBT in serious danger? most likely. (These are just my observations from a 21 year old with no connections to either party involved).
These are the opinions of a twenty Four year old model railroader/narrow gauge/standard gauge steam fan.
