Quite a bit, actually. GG4 belongs to the Telluride Volunteer fire Department and will be on display in downtown Telluride. Both 4 and 5 are moved by a company in Cortez, Colorado who have the only rollback trailers in Western Colorado large enough to carry a Goose, which weighs around 15,000 pounds and is about 45 feet long, and they are about 100 miles away from us. Plus the cost of fuel, lodging and meals for our qualified operators, support crew, etc and it all adds up fast. Not just anybody can hop in and drive one of these contraptions, it takes many hours of training in operations, maintenance and rules of railroad operations. Goosefest weekend at the CRRM last year probably would have cost us around $3000 all told if many people had not donated their time and expenses to make this unique experience possible, and we had a small stipend from CRRM to help. We have permission from the Telluride Fire Department (owners) to take 4 and run her somewhere for one week a year, but as a small, independent museum we can't afford that without serious financial assistance. Our museum only has a 600 foot demonstration track, which we use to demo our re-creation of RGS Motor 1. So operating GG4 probably won't happen often, although we hope to have the opportunity once in a while. She's a really sweet machine.
