If it's only foamers coming to the Round-Up, they won't care at all that some obvious details aren't histœrically correct.
OTOH, any serious photographers investing big bucks – not just in paying hefty prices for tickets to the event but in transportation, lodging and restaurant meals – are likely to be rather seriously disappointed when any of their photos in which the sides of the tenders appear are effectively watermarked "Phraud-O-Graph®" by the carelessly-done numbering that doesn't require nit-picking or rivet-counting to spot from fifty feet away.*
What really upsets me, though, is the people in charge apparently not caring about this ongoing (for MANY years!!!) lack of attention to detail (at least none of the bigwigs have responded here), and leaving it up to one or two people who were only following their instructions to take the blame (or making ridiculous excuses about the tenders being too short). And it would not be a big deal to significantly improve the situation if one person – not everyone in the shop – could spend a few hours removing the old vinyl numbers** and replacing them with some that are at least reasonably letterspaced if not exactly the right typeface for the era being represented. With more than five weeks to go, finding eight or ten man-hours shouldn't be a big deal, and if someone can get
Design-A-Sign in Pagosa Springs (if they're still in business) to create reasonably accurate replacements – good enough for Fritz, say – I'll twist Roosso's arm and talk him into using the $150 he pledged for stencils eight years ago to pay for them.
- Sincerely,
Willie (Wm. Claude Johnson-Barr III, Esq.)

** I vaguely remember someone saying that all that's needed is a heat gun or maybe a good hair dryer to warm up the vinyl numbers and they peel right off, but I'm not certain of this.
