To the history channel a train is a train is a train. NG, SG, big, small, whatever. As Doug said 844 has been running the longest for its original owner.

If you use Doug's method then 340 might be the longest running loco in the US. D&RG/D&RGW 1881-1952 (71 years) GT&CRR 1952-2013 (61 years) total 132 years. Minus down time for repairs and overhauls. She was never retired either.
