Craig,
Abatron is a two-part epoxy sealant. We treat all the wood with it--both original and new--prior to painting. The Museum's goal with this car is that it shouldn't need a rebuilding for 50 to 100 years (painting is another story--something at the museum is ALWAYS being painted). Since it will live outdoors, we added the rubber sheeting between the roof layers and take extra precautions with the finish and two coats of paint followed by a clear coat.

Hopefully it will last a lot longer than I will!
