As Mr. Barr explained, all the Knott's equipment - including locomotives #41, #340
and #455, as well as former RGS Motor #3 - would be based at Magic Mountain.

I presume that a new engine house, shop and car barn - perhaps even a round-
house and turntable - would be built there to house everything.
The first step is to build a narrow gauge RR circling Magic Mountain, where most of the operations will take place on a daily basis. Once that's up and running, the income will be used to construct the narrow gauge connection to Piru utilizing portions of the old S.P. right-of-way and land set aside for the purpose by Newhall Land & Farming, plus the right-of-way west of the County Line that was purchased by the County of Ventura roughly 20 years ago. At first trains will run to Piru only on weekends, but as traffic increases operations will become more frequent. After NL&F begins to develop their properties in the northwest corner of L.A. county and demand for transportation increases a third (standard gauge rail will be added between Piru and Magic Mountain, and then extended all the way to Saugus and a connection with the MetroLink line there.
As a co-founder of the Santa Clara River Valley RR Histörical Society - along with Dave Wilkinson - I for one am very excited that the preservation of the Santa Paula Branch that we worked so hard to accomplish in 1992-93 is finally beginning to pay off!
