If the latter - since you're going to have to reproduce so many parts anyway - how
about, just for the sake of variety, instead of replicating yet another circa-1950 K-27
why not replicate #455 as received by the D&RG from Baldwin - as a soak with the
Vauclain-compound double cylinders (like Manitou & Pike's Peak #4) and a slope-
back tender?

And while you're at it, once you have made all those patterns you might as well go ahead and replicate #461 at the same time and take advantage of the cost savings inherent in mass production.  Other than the left and right castings for the cylinder saddle with its inward-slanting piston valves, there's not a whole lot of difference between #461 and the rest of the class - see the drawings on [ngdiscussion.net].
