Re: The "Whole" Story on 71?

The C&S equipment was sold by the Central City Opera Assoc.(the owners after the C&S) to the Colorado Historical Society. They wanted the equipment over at Silver Plume at the Georgetown Loop. The locomotive did actually make it to Silver Plume, but a great hue and cry went from the Gilpin County residents, so nothing else was moved. After considerable talk, the Colorado Historical Society sold the equipment to the Gilpin County Historical Society and the engine was moved back to Central City. Thus ending the "Great Train Robbery". Then gambling came in, and the old train was just in the way. That's how life goes.
