A number of box cars were used by Baroid Drilling Mud Co. in Farmington for warehousing. They built a new warehouse and the cars suddenly disappeared. I called Baroid asking about the cars and was told "they were bought by some train nut from Chama". The price was $250 each including trucks and all hardware.
Later, Bernie Watts was in Farmington to supervise the unloading of a locomotive onto the B Square Ranch. When I told him the story above, he replied, "I am the train nut who bought the cars".
Concerning the caboose, the only one here is also on the B Square Ranch at the Bolack Electromechanical Museum. It is a SG steel caboose from the 1950s and was donated by the Norfolk Southern. There is the engine mentioned above that is an 0-6-0 switcher of 1921 vintage that was owned by the T&NO. Bolack purchased it from the Ogden, UT museum. Also at the B Square is a combination RPO/baggage car (gutted) from the Illinois Central RR. This is a private museum, but the public is welcome. Just call 505-325-4275.
