Winter Work in Wales

January 24, 2013 03:48AM avatar
Much work is going on this winter in North Wales to extend the track layout at Porthmadog to allow space for simultaneous access to the station by the Welsh Highland and Ffestinog Railways. At present, there is only room for one train at a time, and the WHR train has to reverse to gain access to the platform. The job has been complicated by the need to widen the sea wall (The Cob) on which the tracks are laid.
