BTW, Madarail, who operate the meter gauge line between the capital and coast with French diesels built in the 1970s/80s and Chinese diesels from 2007, still have a Whitcomb diesel in their fleet, B.303 (3-DM-13 40419/1947) which was used to shunt the workshops at Antananarivo. Sadly, at the time of our visit it was awaiting repairs.

And Dynatec, a Canadian mining company who operate a new plant near Toamasina on the coast, brought in five of these center-cabs built (or rebuilt from GEs) in 2010 by Motive Power & Equipment Solutions of Simpsonville, SC:
