I'm a big proponent of exchanging cab rides as professional favors and as goodwill to the community around the railroad, because it provides excellent public relations. Of course, they need to be within reason (number of people in the cab, crew ability/experience) but making them available is a direction I would encourage many operators to take a second look at.

When I was 3 years old, I rode in the cab of the 611 briefly and Frank Collins was the engineer.
