My Daughter Elizabeth and I did a road trip from Seattle to Durango, Mexico in 2009. The trip was much more than looking for the Shay but we did find it and the Heisler in the town of El Salto.

As Thomas states the Shay was by then out of service. It had last run in 2005. The owner Snr. Gomero had recent images of it switching a lumber yard in Durango and taking part in TV commercials. The Heisler is standing on the side of the road in El Salto outside Snr Gomero's hotel. The Shay was then standing on a length of track on his farm. I implored him to move into the adjacent sawmill but have not been back to check.
