Mike,
Thanks for the good comments.
The drawing I obtained appears to be the original C&S drawing without Maxwell's writing on it, so there's that, but it's limited in scope and usefulness as it is missing the entire underbody hardware setup, just has the wood frame.
This morning coincidentally I received a reply from Grandt's son who is now running the show there. He did say that included with their kit is his father's drawing which is one of the most accurate out there, taken from direct measurement. I will take your reply as a very good endorsement as well and we will seek out the kit. It's nice to know that someone was very dedicated to their craft and took the time to get his own measurements.
And yes researching these projects is quite a treasure hunt! I now know way more about the D&RG 3000 series boxcars than I ever thought I would know, and by the time this project is over it will be the same with the C&S bobbers. I always used to wonder how people kept these little details in their heads about specific pieces of rolling stock. Doing extensive research for modeling projects seems to be the answer.
