This photo shows No. 18 meeting an East bound train at Larch summit. In this case the loaded train has arrived first and is holding the main near the East end of the yard, which is what I presume No. 20 is preparing to do in the previous photo. (Note: On the SVRy all freight trains, except stock extras, were mostly empty west bound and loaded east bound.) In reference to Bret's loading comments, the car nearest the 18 seems to be sagging just a bit.
Here is No. 18 again, this time on an east bound. Train is again stopped at the East end of the yard, as witnessed by the empty cab. Notice the convenient wood pile next to the locomotive.
