SFAIK, Curmudgeon Emeritus Tom Gildersleeve has delegated the responsibility for such decisions to the Ur-Curmudgeon JBWX, so it's really not up to me. Actually, I myself have only recently been restored to full privileges as a result of bribing the latter with a bottle of K.B. Hall's Old #500 Industrial Strength Red Table Wine.  Also, since Roger Hogan Wigwam celebrated his 70th birthday during the FahrtRail Charter on the C&TS back in October, it is my understanding that the minimum age for full Curmudgeonhood has recently been raised by the JéBêWèX to seventy years.  Thus Steve Forney, for example - though as cranky and crusty as any of us - will have to endure a few more years of apprenticeship before being benighted.  Also, as noted elsewhere, Dave Schaaf - a former president of the Rocky Club - and our good friend Ed Stabler, though chronologically qualified, are both simply too good natured to even be accepted as an apprentices.  OTOH, Haich O'Maender of the CRRM has been nominated for Emeritus recognition ...

As noted above, Randall -

You would have to post some really irrational, personal attacks on respected members of the Narrow Gauge Community to be considered for promotion beyond apprentice standing prior to age seventy, and can't even become an apprentice before age 65 without being nominated by at least two (2) Official Curmudgeons or five (5) Apprentice Curmudgeons.

I had a serious problem out in the non-foamer world due to my daughter accusing me last year of acting like I was only thirteen, to which I responded, "Cindy (Jackelopette), I have a driver's license", so she relented by saying, "O-K ... sixteen."   Fortunately for me, one's Curmudgeonliness is judged primarily by fellow posters here on the NGDF based on fanatical support of radical ideas such as branding and reactionary ones like green boiler jackets, and thus has little relevance to the real world (or whirled).
