I kind of know what you are talking about, I grew up on the other side of the railroad tracks (those tracks being the DRGW tracks that lead to the Keigley Limestone Quarry). I remember walking to school in the morning waiting to cross the tracks while a set of GP9's were taking empties to the quarry and then in the afternoon waiting for it to go by with a full load of Limestone for Geneva. In later years the 9's were replaced GP-30's and I spent many a day chasing them out to the Quarry and back to Provo yards. My brother was 18 years older than me he told me that Steam Engines use to do the run when he use to walk to school. He told me that one of the engines was of the 1000 series 2-8-0. Sure would have been a treat to see in my eyes.
