I know very little of the logging lines in that area, but perhaps a small corrections, the original mill in Whitney that burned was built by Nibley not Ore.Lbr. This mill was on Camp Crk. just off to the left of the Hwy. when you are traveling West. You can kinda look down on it from up at the cemetary as I recall. Some sources say Grande Ronde Lumber, some say Nibley. Nibley had had a falling our with David Eccles, and founded Grande Ronde Lbr. over in the Blue Mtns. near LaGrande without the involvement of Eccles as in previous ventures. The original Whitney operation used a std. ga. Heisler that was orignally a Grande Ronde Lbr. engine, converted to NG. Nibley and Eccles patched things up before Eccles death in 1912. This Heisler later bacame OLC104. I do have a very nice hand drawn map done by the late Ron Harr of the trackage at Whitney that I could post when I get a chance.
