The flat or round roof car on the rear-end is actually mail outfit caboose 051 that was originally D&RG mail/baggage car 2 built @ 1872, renumbered 51 in 1885 and rebuilt in the 1890s. "Fitted up" for caboose in 1899. Later used as a diner/cook outfit and retired in 1928. Ended up on the ground in Alamosa by the west wye, within the stockyards.
There are other photos of this car in the Animas Museum/ La Plata County Historic Society photographed in Durango and can be viewed online.
