Yes Steve that was my take also that a person was standing besides the rear engine. Oddly the person is easier to see in a scan of the print than in the actual print. Baker White Pine had 3 climax engines plus for a couple years before they folded they leased a Stoddard Lbr. Heisler. It might be one of these, but as the photo of the 1916 plow train showed, they used whatever motive power was at hand to open the line regardless of ownership. I don't think that the air pump on the engine Taylor mentions was on the engineers side, so the source of the steam in front of the cab should be an indication of something such as another with the air pump there or a Heisler. Maybe a rod engine with the injector drain blowing steam. I guess without a clear image it is anyones best guess.
