The Silverton mixed # 461/462 (Tues/Saturday scheduled) seems to regularly have 1 car of merchandise from Durango to Silverton in the consist. I also see 1 reefer returning empty from Silverton (but no inbound to Silverton description of a reefer) so combining these two descriptions is it safe to assume that the merchandise car was typically a reefer?
For this point in time, Fall 1940, I am assuming the 4th Division Timetable in effect is # 121 which would have eliminated the Thursday Silverton mixed. Does anyone have a source for a copy of TT #121 to dovetail with Jimmy’s reports?
On Saturday Nov. 23, 1940 I am wondering who the deceased was (RR employee?) that would have warranted a special car from Durango and holding the train in Silverton for the funeral.
