I posted some photos in the boiler repair thread last week, so won't repeat here.
The fireman's boiler check reinforcing plate has been replaced and the tube sheets have been inspected for cracks (none) and any nicks from tube removal have been repaired. A big job was removing the mud ring rivets, that is now done.
The tubes were slid into the boiler last weekend and we will start rolling and beading them in 2 weeks. Also, the firebox patches have been flanged are being trimmed and ground to the proper shape to fit the cutout portion. The welding should begin also in 2 weeks. Then the fun of riveting the mud ring and drilling, tapping, and threading in the staybolts.
With all of us busy running the Xmas trains this coming weekend we will not be doing any work on the 19, but plan on being back on the 19 fulltime the weekend after.
After 2 years of her laughing at us, it is nice to see parts going back on. We still have a lot of work to do, but it is looking like we might be doing test runs in April or May.
