Jim, there is another possibilty, which is that there was a second connection at one time to the UP main on the line that originally crossed the river on that pile trestle that was at about a 45deg angle to the stream course. I assumed the purpose for this line was to bring logs to the WHEccles mill that was over there and also adjacent to the UP main. Myabe the Sanborn maps I have will prove or disprove this. I just returned home today from Kaslo and am not where I can acess my files. Any thoughts? I am not sure if this was a 3 rail track anyway. From the AFE materials I am certain that at least at one point in time the wye was 3 rail.
