IMHO, you've GOT to set at least one chapter at the snowshed-covered wye at Lizard Head, with a bunch of flatland touristers from the East Coast and Europe on board a special train; one of them gets his feathers up, stomps off, and catches the stage to To-Hell-You-Ride.
And how about changing the time from the late 1890's to the 1920's - so it could be Herr Chaplin with Laurel & Hardy, Mac Sennett and the Keystone Cops on a chartered train to film a movie out in the Wild West. See [
