The Sumpter Valley Railway installed Rushton stacks on all of their regular service locomotives in in 1928-29. Evidently this was successful enough that OLCo followed suit with their largest locomotives, Heisler #100 and Shay #7. Presumably the reason was better steaming and/or better spark arresting.
