How close mechanically is the 19 to a more common GE 44-toner ? If there was a one of those out there with satisfactory engines and traction motors that could be donated, could it serve as a long-term parts source ?
It seems that every 6-7 years it has the same problems. Weren't the prime movers rebuilt in the early 90's ? I remember John Bush putting a lot of energy into it about the time it was painted black.
