Jim,
Many thanks, and we'll take you up on the offer. What I need to do now is figure out how to coordinate things. We had a good diesel and electrical mechanic inspect the 19, and we will probably hire him to do the repairs. I'll contact you back channel.
It's interesting how much interest there is in the 19, and in critters in general. And some of the posts in the previous thread has been very helpful.
My guess is that this year we will spend about $10,000 fixing the critical items, and see how she does. The thing we can't afford to fix completely right away are the worn-out prime movers, no money in this year's budget. We'll patch'em up as best we can and hope.
Then in next year's budget we'll probably look at re-engining her or getting a replacement. I say re-engine because I doubt that it makes sense to spend the money overhauling the existing prime movers that are old and discontinued models. Diesel technology has improved substantially, and it probably makes sense to put in a couple of new or rebuilit turbocharged engines, and get both more power and better efficiency.
