"In Vino Veritas", so they say
. . .
Reminds me of the 4449 and 844(4) + 3985 crews at the pizza place in Old Sacramento during Railfair in 1981. U. P. Joe Passentino told the story of how some of the train crew found out he had tied a yellow ribbon to his favorite ewe while he was herding sheep during a slow time when the railroad had laid him off, and they had tied yellow ribbons to the entire flock. Beer mugs were raised and
"Here's To The Sheep Of Wyoming!!" shouted exuberantly about every five or ten minutes for the rest of the evening
. . .
When the 844 and 3985 entered Nevada on the way home a few days later, the U.P. crews were greeted with "Burma-Shave" signs nailed to the telephone poles.
Joe (2nd from left, below, holding the sign identifying "Uncle Pete" as an un-indicted co-conspirator) talked his U.P. friends into posing with our signs during their servicing stop in Sparks
