From the beginning of the whole long, sorid project to restore Boulder's "Central Park Train" in 1996, the City has understood that Central Park was not a safe place for the equipment. Over several administration changes at the Parks Dept. over the ensuing 16 years, this realization has managed to stay intact.
I have not had any real involment in the project for the past 5 years but my understanding is that the City realized that they did not really have a good place to keep the locomotive, coach and caboose safe so they reached an agreement with the CRRM to keep the equipment there (An idea which took root in 2001 when coach 280 came to the museum). For what it is worth, I think that having the equipment at the CRRM is a graet outcome to the whole project and after 16 years I am happy to see it end this way. I can't wait to see #30/74 intact once again!
Hopefully the CRRM got the brake parts (cylinder, triple valve, brake beams, some rigging etc) that we had assembled for 04990 as it went to the city with the caboose.
