Hi,

I never saw 610 running. The photos I've seen (and barely remember) were black with Southern on the side.

Southern did not renew the 610 lease due to the short drivers. It DID show Southern what stokers would do. Not long after was the CP loco, A&WP 290 restored, and ending up with N&W 611 and N&W 1218. With the New GA RR operating under the State, I was able to see 1218 and S&A 750 running the same day (1218 on ex-SOU and 750 on the ex-Ga Road).

When the Great Dismal Swamp accident occurred, Southern put a speed restriction on steamer's of 35MPH. 610 by then was, by then, put away. The open cars were eliminated also.
