There is a shot in the "Mudhens" book of it in Montrose in 1940 looking like it just came out of the shop. It's still got the rods down from being hauled DIT from Gunnison.
As Marty pointed out it must have got tires a bit later, but only a year after shopping seems odd. It wouldn't be the first time a photo had the wrong date on it.
There is a shot by Ross Grenard in "Requiem For the Narrow Gauge" is 464 getting sand in DGO in Sept 1949. It looks sharp with new paint etc.
As 464 spent a large portion of its life parked after the RGS quit in 1951 and with the exception of getting a power reverse gear and new locomotive air system when it went into switcher service in DGO in the 50's, I bet it didn't get much attention.
