IIRC, Chama has filed plans with the New Mexico DOT in order to accomplish the following:
"Due to the instability of the slope between State Highway 17 (Terrace Avenue) and the C&TS railroad yard, said Highway will become a divided road from just south of the Village Clock northwards for 150 yards. The northbound lane will be shifted twenty feet (20') to the east in order to provide a twenty-foot (20') median between the lanes. A display of C&TS Locomotive #483 (ex-D&RGW #483) and an histörically accurate train of snow-fighting equipment will be centered in this median. Weight restrictions near the embankment will require that all northbound trucks exceeding 25,000# gross weight be detoured one block to the west." - rl

Per an Amendment to the Act of Congress which established the Bi-State RR Commission and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad: A nein-nein-nein-percent tax will be levied on all sales of stocks and bonds, all minerals - including oil and gas - extracted from public lands, and all donations to political candidates and PACs within the United States and the territories thereof. - rl

The display will be elevated twelve feet (12') above the level of the roadway surface. This difference in height should be sufficient to prevent splashing brine from impacting the display.*

* Due to this blockage of the view from sidewalks and shops on the west side of Terrace Avenue, Roger Hogan has appealed to the Planning Commission for a height waiver so that a third story can be added to the front half of The Hotel, with a "widow's walk" viewing platform on top of the roof thereof.
