Hi, Roger -
In order to keep the view clear from the main parking lot into the yard, IMHO the entire Snow-Train display should be located near the clock on Terrace Avenue instead of on the siding next to the parking area. I also think that the train should face north - toward the pass - instead of south as in your back-to-the-future photo. Imagine how impressive it would be to have rotary OM with the correct water car behind it,
* followed by #483, a flanger, the spreader, and a pair of cabeese - just like in the "Olden Days" - especially if a steam line can be laid from the engine house to the display so that the blades of the rotary can actually spin and the whistles of the plow and the engine can sound off the hours - at least first thing in the morning, at noon, and at quitting time.
Of course that location for the 120-yard-long display train will make it even more difficult for foamers to check out the yard as they are driving by, but no-one should be checking out the yard while driving anyway. IMHO, this might actually be a safety feature to cut down on the number of rear-end collisions on Terrace Avenue - not to mention fewer flattened pedestrians, goats, foxes & deer in the middle of town. As noted in another post, anyone who really wants to look down on the yard will have to park his or her car, and either walk around to the east side of the display train or rent a room at THE (
Shamrock) HOTEL in order to view the yard from your balcony.

* IIRC, there must be at least one or two D&RGW historians on the NGDF who can assist The Friends in setting up the right equipment, with all of it correctly painted and lettered consistent with the era chosen to be represented
