A Ticket to Tomahawk, I've always understood, awakened interest in the D&S RR which may be said to be the first USA preserved 'main line' railroad.

The UK equivalent movie would be 'The Titfield Thunderbolt' which, amazingly, also features a run by a wooden replica loco 'off the rails' (it also features a duel between a steam road roller and a steam railway engine and real footage of an 1840s locomotive (Lion) which was still in running order when the movie was made, and which still exists.
