While much later in the game, at least 4 Shawcroft brothers worked for the D&RGW: James (Jimmy), Larry, Ed (Eddie) and Ron (Ronny)
Jim hired on in 1957, promoted in 1966.
Larry hired on 1959, promoted at an unknown date.
Both Jim and Larry worked the Silverton Branch in the 1970's. They both retired in 2002 when the UP sold the Alamosa lines.
Don't know much about Ronny. He still works for the UP out of Pueblo.
Eddie worked as a brakeman on the Silverton Branch in the late 1970's. He still works for the UP out of Pueblo.
When the La Veta crew change point was eliminated, both Jim and Larry had a hard time finding work. Larry went to Pueblo, Jim stayed in Alamosa. He was #4 on a board that used 2 guys a day. He only worked when extra train ran or vacation fill in. He worked for the C&TS in the early 1970's and the 1980's. I worked with Jim quite a bit in the 1980's. When the old heads started retiring in the mid-late 1980's., he finally got a regular job again. At that time Larry came back to Alamosa to work.
The story doesn't end here.
In the the mid-1980's Jim's son Brett (Charlie) started working for the C&TS, was promoted to engineer and worked into the early 1990's. He came back to railroading in 2006 and now is Road Foreman for the SLRG.
Charlie's son Mike started working for the SLRG a few years ago and works as a conductor and steam fireman.
