I'm happy to see that there has been little apparent deterioation since Tedy an I were up there in 1991. We did have an easier route in, however, which may or may not still be available: Crossing the creek, we followed the lower grade on foot from behind the Joker Tunnel boarding house. This was an easy walk on a cool but sunny day though frequently overgrown with aspens and brush. Ties and pieces of rail were evident along the way. The only snag was being given what-for by the resident caretaker of the boarding house, a large "whistle pig" at a second floor window.
