If I'm reading it correctly, this goes to show why the big 2-6-6-2T engines were so badly needed with all of the double heading back and forth from Atchee to Wendella. Notice also how inefficient and lopp sided the trips were as all of the loaded cars were heading east up the 5% grade from Wendella and the empties were going west from Atchee up the 7 1/2% grade. Many more car lots of emties could be taken ina single train, eventually to the point of "double heading" an train consisting of the two shays and a caboose from Atchee to Wendella just to pick up a loaded train as there were no empties heading west. Also of intrest is the snow plow's use in mid April.
