J.S. Pheney was No. 2 on the conductor's list in 1930, being promoted to conductor on 4-19-1893, more than four years before H.W. (Henry) Willis. There was a reference in one of the rail annuals to a Matt Pheney. I don't know if this is the same man.
Source: R.W. Richardson Library, Colorado Railroad Museum. In a related note, Kenton Forrest of the CRRM said seniority lists are part of a fairly recent project at the museum. There are still plenty of material waiting to be cateloged.
