Is it just my imagination or was the narrow gauge passenger train through the Black Canyon more reliable than the bus and truck connection now?
Also, after running small power on the passenger train, the 474 must have felt like a monster to Henry Knoll.
Looks like the Shavano was in the hands of the extra board. I did not find a Rodgers on my seniority list but there was a B.E. Rogers, who was No. 17 in 1937. His fireman's date was 8-11-1912 and engineer's date 10-23-1920. He was approved for passenger and the Monarch Branch but was not approved as a pilot or engineer on the rotary.
