Jimmy that sounds like our run. One other little piece of the puzzle.
I think day or two before this there was another work train on the Farmington Line. For some reason I remember something about my brother and I staying at AH Wilderness Ranch on the Silverton line for a few days and my dad was off by himself with the car. He said he chased a work train, to Farmington I thought he said. Anyway the film he shot turned out to be double exposed. I kinda recall something that looked like a derick crane in the double exposed scenes.
What I am saying is I am wondering if there was another work train around this time frame toward Farmington. If not then I am wondering if there is another Gato turn like you described after the 27th. Am just trying to uncover all stones. If the answer is no to all the above scenarios then the date you mention MUST be the day I shot. Here is the train in Gato. It had two water cars. I believe we left and headed home toward Ohio after we got to Gato. From what you said it went back to Durango, and now that makes sense that dad wanted to keep going east rather than backtracking, since it was near the end of trip.
Thanks for checking.
Greg
This shot was not scanned on my new unit, and it was scanned from a print.
