Re: Continuous Draft Gear?

A continuous draft gear differs from other types as it has a solid rod connecting the draft gear on either end, instead of the draft gear being fastened to the center sills. On p. 521 in "The American Railroad Freight Car" has a drawing of the D&RGW design of 1889.
I don't know when the D&RGW's 4000 series cars were built, but they predate the 3000 series which were built in 1905. So perhaps the drawing might be a true representation of what's under the 4000 series cars.
