Greetings!
Here's why the Uintah needed locomotives with both hill-climbing power and considerable ability to "bend" in the middle. This is the route over Baxter Pass, showing the rail line crossing the top of the pass in the distance. The abrupt curve to the left-middle of the picture is the famed Moro Castle curve. DPL photos.

Baldwin articulated #50 at Moro Castle. The car immediately behind #50 is a water tank.
